PEC Signs Up Teddy Bear Helpers To Raise Funds For Charity

Bradford-based specialist finishing and fit-out firm PEC plans to boost support for the city’s most vulnerable young people by announcing children’s charity Barnardo’s as its chosen charity for this year.

PEC has been fundraising for Barnardo’s Turnaround Service in Bradford which works with vulnerable young people who are at risk of sexual exploitation or who go missing from home. One of their initiatives has been selling teddy bears which make ideal presents for children and loved ones.

PEC Chairman Balbir Panesar said: “The people who run the service are fantastic, dedicated to helping others. As a company we decided we would do whatever we can to help to raise money to support their activities. We’ve been fundraising over the summer by selling the teddy bears, which have proved very popular.

“Our charity ball will take place in October, and in the past these have been a huge success thanks to the support of the local community and our own network. We’re encouraging all our business contacts to donate as much as they can.”

Director of Barnardo’s in Yorkshire, Steve Oversby, said: “We’re delighted that PEC has chosen to support our Turnaround service. We’re very grateful for donations for members of the public and local businesses, they are vital if our services are to continue helping the most vulnerable.

“The children and young people that we work with at Turnaround have suffered the most heinous abuse. Barnardo’s helps them to escape from sexual exploitation and rebuild their lives.”

Every year, PEC chooses a different local charity to support and raises money through a mix of events. Most recently, the PEC Heart Appeal raised a massive £60,831.60 for the city’s cardiac unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary after a year-long series of fundraising stunts which involved planes, sharks and mountains.

The PEC Winter Wonderland charity ball will be held on Saturday 25 October at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford. To buy tickets for the ball, £60.00pp or to buy one of the PEC teddies priced £20.00, please contact Victoria Driver at PEC call 01274 686 668.
