BUPA Cromwell Pennant Mews Kensington Diagnostic Centre

Location

London

P.E.C. were awarded a complete D&B contract to redevelopment the Pennant Mews at BUPA Cromwell Hospital. The property consists of a series of Victorian Mews buildings located opposite the main hospital which Bupa used as a storage and office space.

The challenge was to convert the area into a ground floor clinical diagnostic facility including consulting rooms, reception, office and clinic areas. The mews, a busy cobbled public highway runs directly in front of the building and restricted the proposed storage and welfare space to areas within the buildings. Bupa senior management continued to occupy the areas above the project and it was critical to maintain their essential services at all times.

Initial work involved significant structural work to open areas up, extensive additional below ground drainage and comprehensive fire separation work to underside of first floor. Existing floor heights were extremely low and extensive services and mechanical ducting were planned and installed in minimal roof voids. Rooms were laid out and finished to full HTM standard, including preformed coloured white rock IPS Panelling, Sanitaryware, Corian worktops, full cassetted blackout blinds and certified fire rated laminated door sets.

P.E.C. Joinery manufacturing produced consulting room wall and base unit as well as the facilities feature reception desk. Works to the outside included final decoration work to the external facade and sympathetic positioning of A/C Plant to minimise the impact on the surrounding residential areas.

We worked closely with the Principle Designer Capita Property & Infrastructure to complete the project on time and on budget.
